Reviews & Discussion

Many of us grew up and got hooked on techno because of the likes of Beltram.....simple yet addictive tracks that at the time set the standard so many followed. Energy Flash, My Sound and Mentasm happen to be my favourites although this album is worth every penny as each track is unique and memorable. Old School at its best.

Giacomo ~ it is innappropriate to compare Beltram of early nineties with todays digitally sequenced techno and trance. To truly appreciate this it really needs to be listened to next to its contempories back then. Early Beltram had such an impact on the evolution of dance because it was so different, radical and simply hard!. Yes, by today's standards it is somewhat laboured and clumsy but you acknowledge how it was made (4 tracks & analogue synths). Without the influence of records like this I doubt whether todays trance would be around. One should also not forgot the impact these tunes had on dance culture in particular the explosion of the European Rave scene. Any one interested in dance music should own a copy of this : Respect Due.

For a deplorable price, you get a full collection of fantastic classics. These tracks might be -and sound?- old but they are definetely too good, especially if you like the old school type. Anyway, Energy Flash is in itself a sufficient reason for buying it! :o) Ecstacy, ecstacy...

Ok, it was 1990, technology not as advanced in musicmaking software as it is now, but this collection of early Beltram hits is so stiff and clumsy as to be almost impossible to listen to nowadays.
You can appreciate the sound production if you use a pair of good headphones, though.
