Reviews
- Vito Lucente have been on the dance scene for quite a while: under different aliases, of course. It seems that under the name 'Junior Jack', he established himself once and for all as a popular DJ. Although 'My Feeling' was based heavily on the Stardust phenomena, the inventive way he brought two disco samples together to create a new club stormer received unanimous praise amongst clubbers and dance music fans (Phats & Small later used the same formula on their hit 'Turn Around').
'Trust It' contains some good tracks, let's be honest. 'Da Hype' melts electro and house perfectly. The vocal version, with Robert Smith (from The Cure), is also an epic moment.
The production on the replayed samples is quite good. It helps to separate the elements better so the filters and other effects can be treated separately. The Roberta Flack interpolation on 'Luv 2 U' is quite a funny departure from the original version.
I never really liked "Thrill Me", an obvious blink to 'Burnin' by Daft Punk. Although Latin oriented, 'E Samba' use the same formula, with a bassline as identical.
The title track, 'Trust It' is not bad, with the voice of MC Shurakano found on some singles by Kid Creme (Vicente's protege). It seems 'Alone' borrow a bit of the flavor of 'People (Jeno's Stormy Weather Mix)' by Rocket (2000), but still nice to hear.
Musically, 'Trust It' fits in all the parameters of dance music and is enjoyable on every level.
