Produced on location at Fort du Murier & Vienne Wintergarden, Grenoble July 2006.
Mastered at Piethopraxis, Köln, August 2006.
Published by Touch Music [MCPS].
Thanks to: Gisèle Vienne, Didier Bouchet, Piano Tech, Jonathan Capdevielle.
From the obi strip:
"This work came about as the two were composing sound & music for a theatre production by Gisèle Vienne and Dennis Cooper, entitled 'Kindertotenlieder'.
Pieces were recorded in a resistance fortress in southern France during a thunderstorm. Others at a wintergarden drenched in the sunlight."

The artwork on the outside (the back cover in particular) rubs me the wrong way. It looks lackluster and pixelated. But the booklet itself is much, much better.
The music itself, is quite unbelievable. The disc starts off very calm with the 24 minute + track "Estranged". Minimal electronics, accompanied by minimal guitar. After "Estranged", "Forest Floor 1" kicks in with sonic doom. Harsh electronics (reminiscent of Merzbow, possibly) blast left and right, as Stephen O'Malley plays dirge-like doom, laced with intense black metal influences. This continues until "Snow", which seems to be an interesting take on Sunn O)))'s "BassAliens". You can literally feel the coldness coming off of the track. Stephen O'Malley and PITA certainly do not disappoint with their debut album.
