This is a superb 12" that shows off Kemal & Rob Data's effective use of switch ups, intricate drum work and complicated synth work.

My favourite being the A side 'Gene Sequence'.

The break running throughout the track is taken from Dennis Coffey's 'A Whole Lot of Love' and is combined with various percussive elements which make the track roll along nicely and allows the listener to be taken on an aggressive journey.

The highlight of the tune being the third breakdown where the bassline switches up and the tune becomes a speaker smasher.

Definitely one for the dancefloor!

It's ashame such a great duo split up.

Their attention to detail is sorely missed.

Picked up this tune for a quid in music and video exchange. Man I was laughing all the way to my decks. What a fooooking defining moment in darkstep drum and bass this was. The tune looks back at the entire era of Virus, Bad Company and the whole late nineties darkstep DnB era and says "Well fook man in all those years that was the best y'all could come up with??"

The amount of musical ideas in this record could be split over a plethora of releases and form a label in their own right.

Kemal, DnB owns you money mate.

Gene Sequence is a tune I keep coming back to. Unbelievably tight drum programming makes for a superb roller that can save any drum n bass DJ's day, yet with enough subtle twists and turns at every corner to keep the proceedings varied and interesting throughout. It's a shame that Rob and Kemal aren't as prolific as they used to be, as their meticulous sense of detail is sorely needed in drum n bass these days.
