A rather simple but surprising piece of vinyl here. While the B side is rather tired and uninventive, Joko Tai on the A is a very perculiar and slow building piece of minimal lushness. Extremely simple musically, Kiki plays along very senseual layers and rhythms here. Seemingly ethnic chord lines and ephemeral synths, the rolling minimal bass thuds keeps the track well in line. It even lightens up to early morning classic house piano chords. Quite dreamy and in an age of an excess of minimal tracks, Joko Tai most certainly stands out. Very nice.
