there is a listing for the unofficial release now, still a great price considering you have to pay $200 to get the original and would take you probably $100+ to find all these gems individually

I listened to it in 1999, some month after its release: what a trip! It sounded new, rich, deep, fluid. I played it in loop for an entire weekend.
What makes this a masterpiece is the perfect mix between original samples and new arrangement, especially basses and delays.
After 12 years, I'm still listening to it, and I can't find "old fashioned" sounds in it.

5/5 and maybe more...

if only electronic music had stayed this course, we'd all be in better places.

I started listening to this release a few years ago, and it STILL sounds fresh when I listen today - and this doesn't happen with many of my CDs. Kruder and Dorfmeister are downtempo geniouses. From the downtempo hip-hop of Bug Power Dust and Rollin' On Chrome to the straight bossa-nova of Heroes and Donauschingen, this album is gold from start to finish. And if you listen to it through, you might even start feeling a bit stoned - it had that affect on me for sure. Beautiful soundscapes. Highly reccommended. True Vienna Sound.

Bar none, this is THE quintissential at home chill, listening, spaced out, romantic, angst ridden, mood enhancing album of all time! Discover for yourself, because music is a journey and this is the first class ORIENT EXPRESS sleeper through some of the most beautiful landscapes that we have ever traveled. This is a 5* album that deserves its place in music history. I hated lounge/chill, THIS changed my mind!!

A landmark in downtempo head-nodding, Kruder & Dorfmeister’s album of remixes, THE K&D SESSIONS, achieved fame far beyond the usual DJ suspects. For a while, this was the definitive chill. To this day, it still holds up surprisingly strong, even though their style and vibe has been emulated to near extinction. On the first disc, right from the long, low throbs of Roni Size’s “Heroes” and Alex Reece’s stretched-out “Jazz Master,” you can tell why K&D are still the kings. From completely slow and dubby to Smith & Mighty style drum ‘n’ bass, they handle it all. The darkness of Rockers Hi-Fi’s “Going Under” is balanced by the out-and-out funk of Bomb the Bass’ “Bug Powder Dust.” And their take of “Rollin’ on Chrome” by the Aphrodelics is some of the best downtempo hip-hop I heard, ever. And, believe it or not, they make Depeche Mode’s “Useless” feel more hopeless than before. The second disc takes a much more chilled approach, with the dreamy tones of Mama Oliver’s “Eastwest” or Sin’s “Where Shall I Turn.” The harder inflections of Bone Thugs ‘N Harmony’s “1st of Tha Month” is transformed into a dub jazz smoker. Their second take on “Going Under” is moody and mysterious. Two original K&D compositions as well: the slow and meditative “Boogie Woogie” and the interlude “Lexicon.” Essentially, if this isn’t in your collection… there’s something wrong with you.

Could this be the quintessentialintelligentdownbeatchill-out album of all time? You came home from the club spangly eyed and twitchin and you put on the K&D Sessions, like a reflex action, it wasn't concious thought that did it, it was what you did, it was almost unwritten law. And through the buzz of the Heads coming down, the rustle of rizzlas, the soupy herbal haze drifted K&D's sumptuous serving of chilled beats and baselines.
It swoops and rolls, slides and shuffles, cossets and supports then messes you up with ghostly, icy fingers tickling your very soul.

A victim of its own success, this album has been so played that it's hard not to cringe whenever you catch a beat or a bar of one of the tracks. Shame, this album is simply incredible.
It deserves more praise than it's got so far on this page.
