James Murphy is the mashup god, and has never been shy about appropriating his influences. But is takes a true master of psychological programming to lift riffs from New Order's Power Corruption and Lies (Age Of Consent) in the original and then somehow channel the music's ancestral DNA so strongly that your cover band rips the lead track (Love Vigilantes)from NO's next album so flawlessly that it could almost be a sample.

I'm guessing the boys from Franz Ferdinand were in nappies in 1985 when Low Life was released, or close to it, so how'd Murphy do it -- Contractual clause? Anyway, their version is nice.

John Cale's cut is even better and you can feel the maturity and stature in his vocal stylings. No Mark E Smith wannabee, his take is the real deal -- utterly Spine tingling with the cello.

I have played the hell out of this track in all it's incarnations and it still delivers.
