First, LCD mixed at a perfect level punk and disco with Losing My Edge. Then, with Give It Up, the disco side was watered down a bit and stripped to a pure rock'n'roll extasy. Now what to except from Yeah ? Disco beats, of course !

But that wouldn't be knowing James Murphy to assume that it sticks only to that. After the supersexy disco intro of the Crass version, Yeah transforms itself into a tornado of violent synths, clashing beats and manage to be, by far, the best electronic song of the year, no less ! Not only is it danceable, it's so hard you can trash on it ! As for the pretentious mix, let's say that it carries that old good vibe of disco beats and funky tones that made the LCD sound so popular.

All in all, a great release, that, in my opinion, join the ranks of Losing My Edge, if it isn't even topping it.

In my humble opinion, "Yeah" is the best tune of 2004. After a quiet beginning and a perfect uplifting progression, there's a breakdown that leads you to pure madness at the end of the song. LCD Soundsystem keeps the innovative style of their succeeded "Losing my edge/Beat connection" EP including smashing lyrics, but now it sounds more electronic, mixing funky guitars with crazy acid synth lines. If you liked the previous release this is a must have for you.

The crass version of "Yeah" is just an absolute scorcher of raw analog synths and those trademark LCD disco rhythms. It starts harmlessly enough but by the end you're wishing the volume knobs went to 11 as the acid starts to melt your brain starting with the ears.
