Lee Douglas ?! Who the hell is that I hear some say. Well, until I bought this incredible record I like other sceptics thought he was a pretty average Scottish golfer.
I'm not a big fan of house music these days, especially disco-house which I normally avoid like the plague. Every now and then a release comes along that I've just got to have and this is one of them.
Both sides are killer tunes. "Same Changes" is a mind melting piece of twisted outer space disco-dub. After a decent smoke listening to it is like being taken on a magic carpet ride. "Our Song" is more of a groover but also has an amazing psychedelic quality with some subtle builds and a very nice understated melody.
What makes this record stand out for me is the stunning production. Lee Douglas may be a new name but he's definitely one to watch. With this one release he wipes the competition aside. Once you hear this you'll be wandering what the fuss is with Mooodymann etc. BLINDING !
.. Re: "Our Song" .. I fully agree with the previous reviewer's comments .. with it's weird spacey synthesiser noises, "Our Song" sounds very reminiscent of those 70s Patrick Adams productions (Cloud One / Universal Robot Band etc) .. which will probably make this tune very collectable .. note there exists a full length 12 minute version of "Our Song" (called "OurSong99") which was issued as a one-sided promo 12" in April 2007 under the catalogue no "RONG DJ 003" .. copies are usually still available from Discog sellers (despite only 400 copies having been pressed)

'Our Song' is a modern disco masterpiece, so uplifting yet profound in the same time.
The production is phat yet very slick and sensual, and it keeps on building around a quite camp disco but obsessive bassline tempered by really cool space keyboards...until the voices explosions which will brings smiles to any dancefloor.
Already a feelgood classic.
