Notes

From Like A Tim's website: "this mini-album is a collaboration between Gina V. D'Orio (Cobra Killer, Ec8or) from Berlin and Like A Tim. Nine classic American songs in a dark modern style. Gina performs her pure vocals on a minimal background of TB-303 bass lines and soaring string synths. Sounds like the 50's...2050 that is!"

Songs featured on this release were originally performed during the 1950s and 1960s by the following artists:

A1 - "I Only Have Eyes For You" - The Flamingos
A2 - "Where Did Our Love Go" - The Supremes
A3 - "The End Of The World" - Skeeter Davis
A4 - "Leader Of The Pack" - The Shangri-las

B1 - "Angel Baby" - Rosie & The Originals
B2 - "Dance With Me" - The Drifters
B3 - "Lonely Sea" - Beach Boys
B4 - "Running Scared" – Roy Orbison

A collaboration between two experimental musicians on a series of classic American ‘hit girl’ songs of the fifties sounds like a recipe for disaster. Fortunately for the listener, both parties take the material seriously and play it straight-faced; the only point where the album drifts into parody is on “Leader Of The Pack”.
Many of the songs here could easily accompany a David Lynch film, in particular the eerie melody and heartbreaking vocals of “The End Of The World”.
Scratched into the run out grooves are FREE PHIL SPECTOR and BACK TO MONO.

This is pure Love! A declaration of love to a unique and indispensable machine. A record dedicated to our Best Bassline. American Lovesongs sings Gina V. D´Orio so tenderly (in the extreme contrast to the Ec8or-releases that seems very bizarre). If you are an AcidLover you have to own it! Thank you Tim.
