"What Is House" was released in 2006, same year as "The Sun Can't Compare", and you can feel a quite similar, razorsharp and crystal clear treatment of acid in the production. But this one is way darker, with Mr Heard successfully digging deep in a livingdead-like zone through an impressive 'zombie robot' vocoded voice that sounds both creepy and totally sexual, telling the good ol' story of house music. Musically, this tune is the absolute definition of a 'groove that won't stop', perfectly set from the 1st second with subtle variations, which, played on an adapted system and decently worked on by a DJ, can descend a whole dancefloor into a mental zombie orgy. A dangerous, magnificent, mind-eating beauty.
