I am a huge fan of the entire Balance series, and this is one of the best, most soulful releases of all of them!

CD1 starts with a extremely chilled spaced out, vocoded vibe and rapidly transitions to seriously funky at track 4. The deep, moody, yet extremely funky Hypnos track is phenomenal. Track 8 is truly a "highlight" with its melancholy guitar strings and brooding vocals which segue into the absolutely beautiful strings of Julien Jabre’s “War.” There is an amazing transition between track 10 and 11 into Kinka’s “Burnin, ”a deep, dubby, latin-influenced house track that takes the entire mix in a different direction. From track 12 onwards, the CD progresses into extremely soulful funky house music with strong latin and jazz influence. Lots of horns weave in and out, culminating in the absolutely awesome “Getaway” by Nightriders. This track sounds like something you would hear on a dancefloor at the hottest club in Manhattan on the hottest night of the year! Tom Novy’s track gradually brings us back down to earth as the CD closes. CD1 is the better of the two mixes. Luke Fair selects tracks with a remarkable amount of diversity and manages to mix them into something highly cohesive that imparts a phenomenal vibe.

CD2 starts with an old school house kind of vibe, cutting straight into a deep, yet driving, rhythm, gradually moving into an old funky and spacey Francois K track from 1998. The mix quickly picks up into a driving progressive workout. Highlights include Dusk and Prayed’s “Playing with Fire”, with its extremely funky beat, Elektrochemie LK’s “Lay Here” with really awesome, almost Italodisco-sounding, synths. The Tiger Stripes mix of Zouin rapidly drives the sound darker while “DJs in a Row” brings the mix back into a party time vibe, with a really effective breakdown. The mixing on this CD is quite dynamic and changes fairly drastically several times, always perfectly keyed. The mix comes to an excellent upbeat close with the piano chords and strings of “Curious.”
