Maetrik - Echando Alma EP

Maetrik is definitely an undiscovered gem. I first listened to Maetrik like a lot of people did: on James Zabiela's Essential Mix dated February 22, 2004. It wasn't trying to be something it wasn't; the sound of the entire song gave me chills. It was my anthem for jogging late at night at my university. To me, it was dark and very mood setting. It's perfect for opening up for another DJ.

I can't say I've heard the rest of this EP, but if it's anything like Excursion, wow.

Buried treasure alert! 'Excursion' is insanely beautiful minimal tech house tune. I'm not generally too exited about vocaled tunes but this one a major exception. But it's not just the vocals - the chords, trippy beats and the dreamy feeling. A true masterpiece which has gone without the attention it deserves. The sad part is that the rest of this record doesn't offer anything that special. Nothing too bad, but then again, it would be had to overtake the beaty and elegance 'Excursion'. Hear it, feel it, love it.
