"Narcotic" is old-school Holden before the Border Community days of late. A pretty melody drifts over the top of some nice stabbing percussion (influenced by Hywel no doubt). The melody gets yanked half way through as the beat comes to a soft roll. Slowly the drums pick up speed until it's time for the swirling melody to emerge again. A classic masterpiece.

This record is a priceless jewel of electronic bliss. Narcotic is rich with rhythmic percussion, iced over with an ethereal layer of crystalized melody, a true masterpiece. Innerspace is no less amazing: solid beat, uplifting melody, excellent programming. I've learned to expect nothing less than perfection from James Holden; with this release he delivers whole heartedly.
This early Bedrock release has been one of my all-time favorite James Holden tracks. With his Mainline project, Holden creates spaced out bliss with "Innerspace" and brings you down and dirty with the flip, "Narcotic". Classic stuff.
