The "Strangefruit Dazy Age Mix" of Kinky People is a quite remarkable release. I never knew that the typical dutch "progressive-techno-trance" sound from the 1994-'95 era would find it's emanation in an obscure Norwegian release. The influence of this kind of music on this remix stands out without any doubt: the whole atmosphere breathes the Touché label's early catalogue sound (hence the discrete Tata Box Inhibitors - Protein sample), combined with the inspiration found in some of Jeroen Verheij's best work (Point Blank - Meng's theme and Night On Earth - Surf De Neige/Simple Shortcut) and, of course, the obligatory epic touch. Besides these influences the overall composition reminds me of Robert Leiner's abilitiy of in depth story telling (The Source Experience - Different Journeys). Top release, hasn't aged a bit, hidden gem, recommended.
Strangefruit's remix is so much ahead of it's time, it is unbelievable! It is a 12 minute long journey of smooth, rhythmic, hypnotic and innovative trance-house...I have never heard anything like it, and don't forget that it now is 10 years ago this remix was made! Good luck in finding this masterpiece! =)
