at a first glance this release sounded like the usual "schranz" (i hate this word) stuff to me - monotone bassdrum-banging and highhat abuse, heard a thousand times now, *yawn*
unfortunately i changed my mind soon after listening again, especially the track "mono string" is a hard tekkno beauty far away from the usual monotonism in this genre. the bassdrum is doubled with some sort of reverb which gives the listener the impression of a very fast bassline. there are some really good breaks/build-ups in this track and the snares and highhats are accompanied by a very silent but addictive synth melody which you can't forget once you've heard it.
so, mr. maddox' second release on bitshift gets 5 out of 5 points from me.
