In all honesty 3 out of the 4 tracks on this EP are not really up my street whatsoever. When I was listening to it in the store several years ago it almost ended up back on the shelf. Then I listened to the last track on the EP, 'Angels'. I was instantly hooked and immediately wondered how this rose ended up between all of these thorns.
The track starts subtly with the vocal and light percussion, then the beat and bassline drops. Warm, rolling and smooth. It smoulders along for a few bars and the vocal swells and the sax starts to cut through all the while building and then it drops into the first verse with that bassline just swinging away......killer. It is all very tastefully done making for a track that has the poise of any classic you could hear. If your a fan of that deep, jazzy, soulful influenced house sound then this track is clearly for you and in my estimation this is a hidden treasure (or at least it is for me anyway), go grab yourself a bargain.
