I can only shake my head at Spectral and wonder what they were thinking. The original version of Dog Days was just so great that to release these, in my opinion, very sub-par and uninspired mixes is to do a dis-service to the original.
The vocals which went amazingly with the original mix sound completely out of place on this release, and in particular on the Sneak remix. The tracks plods along from start to finish with little to no fanfare in between. This Chris Carrier effort was the only one that seemed to warrant a re-listen in the future.
My love for the original may be clouding my judgement on this one, however what started off as the Concorde, and had me hoping for at least a private jet, seems really to have been stripped down to a glider here. I guess that's why these are called the "Robsoul" Remixes. Soul is exactly what they've been robbed of...
