Berlin-based Austrian duo The Memory Foundation unleash an incredible double EP that spans a huge range of their work. While they seemed to be gaining their footing with earlier EPs (and meanwhile chiseling the sound of their own Central Records), Timequake displays a matured direction, which includes blistering techno, gritty electro beats, and dub-influenced grooves. The title track is my first choice, with its meaty percussion, pulsating chord over the top, and its substantial bassline. Shining Thru and Simplified are also worth noting, though all the six tracks are excellent.
