referencing The Draughtsman's Contract, LP, Album, CAS 1158

Mmmmm, genre = electronic. I think not, but nevertheless this is a wonderful album, and a great example of classical minimalism that differs from the American school ie. Glass, Reich, Adams etc.
This was the first collaboration between Nyman and British director/writer/visual artist Peter Greenaway (who is infamous for his overtly sensual and pictorally stunning films). Their other projects include: A Zed and Two Noughts, Drowning by Numbers, and The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover.
Nyman's music is a perfect accompaniment to Greenaway's surreal artisic vision, and helps to maintain an emotional narrative that can sometimes be lost amongst the visual symbolism in the films.
