This is probably my favorite material Milieu has released thus far in his career. "In Hills Made of Clouds" is a journey through some of the most melodic and spellbinding atmospheres I've had the pleasure to hear. Starting off with the warm throb of "Three Two One", the listener is thrown into a world of multicolored skies and lush forests as far as the eye can see. To say the ending melodies of this song are heavenly isn't even doing them justice. From here we travel into the beautiful rhythms and textures of "Slowfade High Five" and then through the brief pixelated disorientation of the title track. Next is the mystic nostalgia of "Sunlite Sound", which as the title suggests brings to mind beams of sunlight filtering through breaks in the clouds. Onto "Ocean Bleached" which has the melodic quality of faded colors from centuries past. The collection closes with the astounding "Sway Leaf". Using the throbbing melodic effect from the opening track, blissful chords sway back and forth to a mechanically resonating beat, all the while the attention is drawn to a nicely dubbed out chord pulsating in time to the motion of the music. Overall, a classic release sure to please any fan of melodic or ambient electronics.
