I have a copy of the Passage played by Colin Favor on Kiss FM London intentionally at 45rpm and it sound great. The track springs into life as a very usable breakbeat/techno gem

Vessels In Distress is actually written by Reel By Real (Martin Bonds) additional strings were provided by Juan Atkins.

Totally underrated material from the Techno Godfather Juan Atkins.
At the time Techno music was spreading quickly worldwide and DJ's were often more focused on new genres that were emerging.
Although this is imo an essential Model 500 release.

• The opening track "The Passage" is pure bliss.
An awesome "airy" downtempo techno track that is spiced up with some cool breakbeats, but that also contains some nice spacy synth sounds and those typical deep atmospheric detroit chord progressions.

• Mind changes is in fact a totally underrated Model 500 track that does not appear in many comps. It really sounds like the missing link of Juan's 80s roots and his future productions. You can hear the early electro new wave influence in this track but you also experience the techno "eclosion" feeling in this one.

• At last we finish with "Vessels In Destress" wich is even more 80s influenced but wich is still an awesome techno tune.

All in all this EP was maybe at the time just an assemblage of tunes to help the launching of Apollo, a new R&S subdivision, but in the end it stands pretty well against the passage of time and will remain a very solid EP in any collection.
