Track 4 was previously unreleased (1978).

Reviews & Discussion

Review by Crijevo May 02, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
Don't know what to think of this, really... 'The Worst of Monte Cazazza' is supposed to be as shocking to the very edge of nerves - but the irony has it, listeners cannot really tell from suggested what or better - where IS the worst in this collection; Cazazza used obscene concepts all over alright, lucky for us as caught unawares accepting it in terms of listening enjoyment, art or simply understanding it as darkest of humour on hitting heads with a set of cemented bricks.

The lyrics are somewhat childish ('Mary Bell', or the rest of the topics here tackling Christianity) while on the other occasion it is truly sick ('Candyman', 'Rabid Rats (Vietnam)', 'If Thoughts Could Kill' including the intimidating intro from the psychiatrist's official reports)... some of the shock tactics seem a bit dated for there are thousands of serial killers out there nowadays flaring with far more innovative taking over this bloody manifesto...

This is a collection of obscure and/or hard-to-find material pulled from singles and compilations - basically the early period when Cazazza recorded for his friends' TG label Industrial plus Sordide Sentimental and others. Bizarre thing is it offers pop to otherwise confrontational contents - 'Sex Is No Emergency' sounds almost like Tuxedomoon, 'Kick That Habit Man' is a masterpiece instant hit-single with dadaistic leanings... However, be careful how you interpret it in your head. For the leaflet of the CD ends quite honestly - 'ladies and gentlemen, this is truly the worst of Monte Cazazza'. If 'worst' means 'art', well - who knows...
