but for me this only opera of Feldman
is one of the most interesting "dramatic" work in the
20th century - standing besides the operas of BA Zimmermann,
Schoenberg, Henze or some other composers.
Providing simply one actor and no dramatic line,
sure it was not much accepted from the original audience in Rome in 1977.
The only soprano is accompanied by the orchestra -
so one may say the orchestra provides the scenic aspect.
This antidrama begins with deep drums in the 4 minute
'overture'.
The "libretto" is the 16 line work of writer Samuel Beckett -
and this collaboration of equal-minded Beckett
and Feldman is also very interesting.
It's a pity that there are no more interpretations well
available than the only well available recording
of MusicaViva. I prefer this recording with Zoltan Pesko.
Perhaps - time will tell - HatHut will rerelease this
recording too - like they have already announced to do
with the [piano] Trio of Morton Feldman.
