Mr. Scruff made a household name for himself with KEEP IT UNREAL, partially thanks to the use of the jazztastic “Get a Move On” in a car commercial. The album as a whole shows Scruff’s love of old jazz and hip-hop rhythms—and how the two go together hand in glove. The slide of “Midnight Feast” goes straight to your soul, while the neo-souul groove “Honeydew” will have your mouth watering. The humorous obsession with aquatic animals continues onto this album, with the whale-centric “Shanty Town” and the self-evident “Fish.” But if you just want to relax, flip on over the “Travelogue” and let yourself go. A marvelous album.
