Sutekh is an amazing artist, however, his work is mostly characteristic of that glitch aesthetic present during the first half of the first decade of the millenia. The mix on this ep isn't some of his stronger work; please refer to his orthlong or mille plateaux releases for a better take on that sound. The Fax mix on the other hand, not only redeems this 12", but reveals a truly hidden gem. This one kind of takes the deep, dance-floor qualities of many releases associated with this sound, and replaces them with a more subtle, nuanced groove better suited for listening in the privacy of your own home. That is a complement. Think of (and this might help define it for those who know) a track with that deep detroit feel, but without the kitsche intrumentation. BC atmosphere, but a welcome departure from all that echo and reverb. Ambient, yet just the right amount of clicks and beats to entertain you away from that genre's banality. More heart than Gas and just as cinematic as the quieter Convextion tracks, yet gladly less centimental. Not too dark, not too deep. Right down the middle. Very nice indeed.
