Music Man, The - Homemade

An incredibly rare little bit of Herbert's portfolio. It coincides with Matthew Herbert's now mandatory found sound dogma in the sense that (if I remember correctly) it was mainly comprised of samples sent to him through the mail. You know the rest. Processed, flipped and switched, esoteric and meaningful. The track on this release that stands out for me is 'I Got The Music (Sir Henry's Special Mix)'. It's not unlike 'Touch Me' or 'Make 5' in it's simplicity, what some consider down tempo (I still don't quite understand what that is, exactly). But, in being yet another one of those Herbert tracks (remixes or otherwise) that are pretty damn boring after the first two minutes, this track is further proof that Herbert's 'pretty damn boring' yarns can be engaging, or even immersive. This release is not easily found, and none of the tracks on it have been part of any compilation, whether it be Herbert's Greatest Hits or Chill Beats Vol. 6. This is the one and only release under the Music Man moniker, and for one release, it holds its own. Find it if you can.
