This release is completely different from all the other Muslimgauze releases that I own. The heavy presence of percussion which is characteristic for much of the Muslimgauze catalogue is almost completely missing (with the exception of track 2), the sound is quite minimal and glitchy with additional clicks & cuts and Russian (and rarely Arab) samples.
It is very repetitive, in a good way, somewhat hypnotising, and Muslimgauze's influence is, as far as I can tell, pretty subtle, a hint of dub here, a snippet in Arab there, echoes and hissing, mostly present without being too obvious. Lots of bleeps and low-key noises.
Tracks 3 and 4 dive - or rather dip - into playful electronica ground, 2 and 5 have most obviously been manipulated by Muslimgauze. Track 5 is (at least in part) on the verge to rhythm and might appeal to Muslimgauze fans of Bryn's more rhythmic mid-90s excursions. The CD is not too spectacular at first listen, it really needs to grow on the listener.
