Mylo - Drop The Pressure

I consider the Glimmers mix of this song the only one that hasn't gotten INCREDIBLY old already. Really, the ridiculous overexposure of 'Drop The Pressure' killed it dead, but the Glimmers mix sounds completely different, and alive. Probably because they remake the song so drastically it's barely recognisable other than the nagging hook, it's almost Idjut Boys esque in it's dubbed out swirlyness, which is obviously a good thing.

This is my favorite single of 2005. This is the track I listened to most in 2005. This was the track along with Destroy Rock & Roll (the album) I had loaded in my iPod in 2005.

There were several mash-ups and bootlegs floating around too. As well as an official release of Doctor Pressure which was the mash up of Doctor Beat by Miami Sound Machine and Drop The Pressure by Mylo. I also love the bootleg mash-up of Drop The Pressure and Yaz's Don't Go. Too bad that didn't get a full release!

But anyway this single has various versions of Drop The Pressure including a Clean Radio Mix, a Clean Club Mix (for you sensitive ears), a Club Mix (My Favorite), Riton Rerub(just ok), Erol Alkan Edit (Most Excellent basically an extended re-edit), Felix Da Housecat Mix (not very strong for Felix), and a Dirty Minds Rework.

I noticed this track when it first appeared on the Paris 400 EP and it was a big standout with it's fat bassline and vocoded voice tweaks. I'm not keen on Riton's stranger take but i guess it does work for the right crowd. Erol Arkan's rework is simple a long extension with some additional production, the original is short but sweet but Erol Arkan's rework gives that extra space for lazier dj's (like me).

Scottish Mylo drops the fattest bass line set on being the biggest tune of the night. Electro & Daft Punk overtones playing a huge influence - his independant BREASTFED label is impossible to ignore, proving 'Drop The Pressure' the hottest record in my bag.
