Reviews & Discussion

referencing A Case Of Funk, 12", EP, WAP 15

Many notes sequence, sweet chords, full dance pronounced beats, effusive hi-hats, flute simulation and a very powerfull funky bass create the atmosphere of "A Case Of Funk", one of the WARP Classics of the beginning of the nineties (and a quintessential one of that period, for sure). The drop out with the piano part and the female singing is just another touch of class before you shake your body again, in a unique climax.
If my memory is correct, there's a sample from NYC Peech Boys on "Biofeedback", perfectly melted with the minimal-futuristic WARP typical context.
On that same minimal perspective goes the percussive "Strange", a tune with no vocals that counts on a melodic & rhythmic bass line.
"21st Kong" has breakbeats and clearly more abstract-minimal-robotic approach, from the percussion to the mechanical bass. Its rhythmic effects make the atmosphere somehow funny - there are even some samples that seem like a simulation voice saying "King Kong".
