Reviews & Discussion

Probably my favourite album of the past 5 years. Absolutely stunning electronic downtempo music with very strong world influences. Sawhney merges classical Indian music with Western electronic dance music beautifully to create a perfect juxtaposition of musical cultures. Just check 'Homelands' one of his best known tracks or 'Nadia'. His use of classical piano lends an almost timeless quality to this album. How on earth it didn't win the Mercury music prize is beyond me. I have very special memories listening to this album whilst travelling around India in 2003, thank you Nitin.

Great world music. A long time ago jazz musicians startet playing ethnic styles in the sixties. Well this is a modern version with very good jazz musicians and very good ethnic themes from india. Some songs are drum&bass, some are piano sounds and many more styles.
Elle magazine said:"The album of the year" - and they must be true ;)

I wish I bought it on CD...
