WHY DON'T YOU TAKE ME is an absolutely lovely track, one of One Dove's best. It starts off like a lonely spaghetti Western torch song in outer space (with Dot Allison's breathy voice hinting at real emotion). Then the steel drums come in, and it all comes together. The best country-western-by-way-of-Jamaica track of all time! And who would have thought that a Dolly Parton song like "Jolene" could be so funky? "Skanga" is a reggae song on ice, though it picks up the tempo some. The "Rank Outsiders" mix of the title track is longer, but loses the reverb that adds a mysterious something to the track.

Contains the best version of Dolly Parton's 'Jolene' that you will ever hear. It's kind of a tripped-out dubby reggae version. Worth a listen. Also has a hauntingly beautiful fade-out on the last track. The sort of fade-out that you wish they'd drawn it out a bit longer.
