one of the best albums in dance music, it still sounds fresh today. orbital where so cool but now they make music from films and for kids, its dam sad.
the peel sessions are ace some of the best orbital tracks on there.

I’ve never wrote a review before and probably will never again but heres an album you can turn on and let it play throughout without having to to skip and wish a certain track would hurry the fuck up and finish, which by any dance albums standards is an amazing feet in itself. The Brown ALBUM is a truly remarkable LP that can change the mood of a cosy evening in beside the fire or a club packed with 1,500 people to a stadium of twenty thousand people. I truly wish that music like this was still made today and that more people would recognise the importance and significance of this release and try to emulate it with today’s technology. I seen orbital many times in huge arenas and enjoyed their performances albeit out of my face on drugs and never really remembered what they played. It wasn’t until later life I bought and downloaded a few albums did I really appreciate and respect their music that bit more. Orbital I salute you for being one of the best dance acts EVER.

I agree that this is Orbital's crowning achievement through their long and accomplished career. Here you have two of the biggest Orbital singles ever - Halcyon + On + On and Lush. The flow in this disc is better than on any of their others, with Snivilisation coming in a close secnond place (IMO). Years later, this is one of those albums of the 90s that stands the test of time and still will 30 years in the future.

I used to think that remind was a better tune than halcyon, thinking that halcyon was a bit too gay. I have listened to this baby possibly two hundred times or more. When I broke the CD I went out and bought a brand new copy right away. Lush 3-1 is a remarkable track too. Planet of the shapes is another journey, as well as Monday and Impact. That's almost the whole album! I do think that the success that they have made off of Kirsty Hawkshaw is somewhat unfair to Kirsty Hawkshaw, who also unfairly achieved success singing a cover song. That is probably the reason for it not making mainstream success.

Ahhh the Brown Album. The Brown Album gives uncounted moments of joy. All hail the Brown Album in all its splendor. Excellent pop techno, made for the mad for it masses that is replete with blistering tracks, trancey breakdowns, ambient wastescapes and lost in the sauce acid noodlings. The complete package.

Orbital's finest moment without question and one of the greatest electronic albums of all time. This is intelligent techno that is full of ideas, inventiveness, beauty, sonic landscapes and breathtaking production. An album that rocks and is incredibly dancefloor friendly but at the same time it's a stunning long player that needs to be heard at home to appreciate it's undenying beauty. A perfect dance music album from start to finish.

amazing. orbital at their peak. however, and here's the rub, the original cassette version tracklisting kicks off with "time becomes" then straight into lush 3-1 and lush 3-2 then into impact and then right into remind. planet of the shapes starts off side 2.

on the cd version planet of the shapes is the second track and there's a break between impact and remind. criminal. it really upsets the flow. buy the tape or edit it yourself!

I bought this when it first came out in Late 94. It was release as an australian only special edition. An interesting fact about the track Walk Now is that the beat used it the sound of Sydney crossing signals that the band recorded when they toured Australia in Late 1991 early 1992.
