This album is so completely perfect! Absoulutley beautiful! I cannot believe I haven't stumbled upon Oval until now... However it feels right that I found him when I did. That is the kind of feeling he gives you. That metaphysical, everything has it's place feel. Then everything seems interesting and akward and kind of a bustle, while you sit back and watch it go by, relaxed and eternally at ease. That is what this album sounds like to me.
I found this CD randomly in the used bin at a record shop that I frequented a couple of years back. I was stricken by the beauty of "do while" and bought it. I'm glad I did, as I've never seen the release anywhere since.
The record is universally quite good... Oval clearly has mastered the art of creating ambient scenes with a variety of moods. Tracks such as "do while" usher you through a soft, flowing, pastoral world, while others (the rest of the disc, basically) gleam with slightly harder digital precision. As a bonus, if the listener lacks the intoxicants (sorry) or patience to handle the full 24-minute journey that is "do while", the last track on the disc is an excellent remix that works with a fraction of the original song.
Definitely worth picking up for any lover of ambience that might stumble across it.
