Not a big fan of BPitch usually but here i have to say that 'Gebrunn Gebrunn' is absolutely amazing, a BOMB, probably the best song of 2005 imho, and one of the most powerful and original techno tunes that i've heard for a long long long time.
Try to picture a groovy techno (off)beat with subtle old trance atmosphere, then rises this very emotional horn hook sounding like the siren from the boat on Fellini's 'Amarcord' movie deep from a cold foggy night, and finally these otherworldy 'Makin A Livin' vocal samples coming out of nowhere with special 'spacey' treatment...wow.
James Holden dropped that one the other night and i was almost crying.
Anyway a tune that can use that Makin A Livin thing in 2k5 without sounding clichéd is really something special.

Oh those hand claps! Paul Kalkbrenner's Gebrünn Gebrünn is one of the most fresh and danceable tracks on Bpitch Control in awhile and is a definite milestone for the label. The track samples 20th Century Steel Band's "Heaven And Hell" to great effect. You know the sample . . . "Children working, Women producing . . . Everyone's got to make a living." Gebrünn Gebrünn is an instant classic. Fierce and fresh.

Brilliant comeback for Paul Kalkbrenner. Side A has to be the largest track ever to come out from Bpitch, or hell, the largest track committed to vinyl after Spieth dropped his mighty Under Pressure on Speicher 8. Anyway, I was baffled when I heard Ellen close her Sónar promo set with this monster. It's-- just-- huge-- and I mean HUGE, huge drums creating an omnipotent marching rhythm, huge soaring synths, roaring handclaps and an ecstatic vocal on top, definite stadium material. Tatü-Tata is a moody, hypnotic slice of Kalkbrenner's signature drum programming that builds into a pulsating groove carrying a melancholic melody, deep and dark stuff and a splendid track in its own right, but inevitably overshadowed by the flipside. Killer.
