Simply brilliant compilation. A lot of work's been done and many tracks on the album are actually PvD's re-works. Such tunes as Blank & Jones - Secrets & Lies, Lexicon 4 - Reach Me, David Forbes - Questions Must Be Asked sound much better in PvD's versions.

There are some great tunes on this album, the best one being Nu NRG 'Dreamland', but it there is a lot of really boring progressive-ish stuff on here as well. Personally, I like my music to be euphoric, energetic or groovy and a lot of the tracks on here don't fit into any of those categories. I respect PvD and this album hasn't made me think of him as any lesser DJ but I think you've got to be really into his sound to properly enjoy this album otherwise you'll just skip through to the best bits.

Paul van Dyk's first mix cd in years.. humm.. good enough?

Overall, there are loads of great tunes there, especially in the end of the first cd (Autumn, Empire, Dreamland) and the start of the second (Massive, Epic Monolith). But before buying this watch out for the fact not every tune was put here as originally they were made. Paul van Dyk 'reworked' a lot of the tracks. And while this concept may look nice, reworking the tunes to make them fit together, it ended up a disaster. You must really like the typical PvD bassline and beat, because you'll hear it from the start 'till the end (especially in the second cd). Also, some reworks take off some energy from some tunes, like in Second Sun - Empire.

It's a good cd for the sense that there are pretty nice tracks there, but the reworking thing just put me off. The middle part of the first cd is not so good, with some very commercial housy tunes. The only really special thing in this release is the end of that cd.

Politics of dancing is a great release, even though it is considered trance and progressive trance, there are some tracks that ar influenced by house and breaks. However I recommend it for those who think PVD is awesome.
