I have to toatally agree with the review above as it speaks nothing but truth and sense in the review of a great 12".
I got posted this 12" for my birthday a year or so ago and from the makers Miles and Gaz and from the moment of it hitting the deck it has hardly left the platter...
Few people still have the musical dialect to make quality music that fullfills the deep old sound that we all still desire from great producers like themselves. It shows that people still put effort and time into producing good music for the masses and it is fully for the love of it.
I was priviliged to catch miles djing in nottingham a few weeks back(pendle coven) and his skills in not only djing but in building a atmosphere was a special occasion.
I recommend anyone who loves music of the finer choice and style to buy this 12"

With this EP the northern English duo Pendle Coven proved that they are world class musicians, whom, how I must admit, I had never heard of until I discovered "Marriage Of Convenience". Each of the three tracks featured on this 2005 release can be considered a highlight of its own: "X Marks The Sample", that uplifting, almost anthemic yet perfectly subtle and laid back Techno gem with its ethereal melodic elements and those vocals that sounds just as lovely at 33 RPM as it does at its correct speed of 45 RPM; "Modern Mode", a classic Deep House tune very reminiscent of that famous 1991 sound innovated by labels such as Nu Groove or Strictly Rhythm; and last but not least the slow-paced, Chicago-inspired "Tributary" with its surreal ambiance and funny sample.
All three of these tracks prove - each in their own way - that there are apparently still artists out there who can compose wonderfully sensitive and expressive music that sounds surprisingly refreshing and new nowadays. Easily the best release in Modern Love's fantastic catalog and a crucial favourite of mine, this is one of those precious records I occasionally dig out to remind myself that contrary to my occasional massive doubts there still is good music being made out there.
