This record may be selling for just a few dollars but to me it is one of the most incredible Big Beat style tunes (Super Sound) ever to grace vinyl. It is soooo difficult to make good quality big beat as it uses elements of music from the 1960's and 1970's light years before people made music with nice steady metronomes. So if you are a sampling maniac producer like myself you have to work around bad timing structures etc.. to fit these old segments into your new production and believe me it is a nightmare. I cannot even comprehend the magnitude of work that went into the track Supersound and the creative minds that are Pepe Deluxe to have been brilliant enough to find the exact needed bits to pull this amazing feat off in such style and grace, let alone to have every thing sync together so smoothly as if they made the song in 1969. I have personally played this Big Beat monster of a tune wrldwide (And I do not give a crap what idiotic British journalists say about how Big Beat is dead whatever just because Fat Boy Slim had a bad day and publicly said Big Beat is dead and was a fad etc.. etc.. Big Beat is not dead and tell that to the tens of thousands of kids who lose their minds at worldwide festivals and clubs each and every time I play Big Beat tunes like this masterpiece.
Mark my words that in time as music is fashion Big Beat will again be the rave and all the killer producers who made excellent music of this style like Deadly Avenger, Touche, Skeewiff (still producing this style), Krafty Kuts, Pepe Deluxe of course, Propellorheads, Digby Fox, Ictus (still making this style), etc.. will all again jump on the bandwagon and give us more killer tunes.
