If you want to go to songs that give 2004 the positive reputation it is often rewarded for fine trance music, Kubik is there leading the charge. The Intro Mix of Kubik is truly the pièce de résistance of this collection. There is a dark, thick pad that underlies the entire duration of the song. Superficially speaking, this song is the darling of repetition. The central melody is consistent throughout the song from two-and-a-half minutes in until around the sixth minute. But this song is so relentlessly dense and deep, it's hard to wrap one's head around the dozens of percussion elements, basslines, and leads that are sneaking in and out of the song's constitution, all together providing one fascinating and dynamic song. These fine nuances develop into one collective build-up that releases the listener just past midway into the song, leaving us alone with one massive break, one which unexpectedly shifts the melody on the other side of the break. Still yet, the song builds ever more late into the song, until the song gracefully collapses into a simpler and simpler still structure as the song ends. I truly believe this to be this artist's best track to date, and one that stands as a flawless case of trance at its finest.
