YOU ONLY TELL ME YOU LOVE ME WHEN YOU'RE DRUNK is such a beautiful and touching song that it's no surprise that movie composer Craig Armstrong produced and arranged it. It's almost cinematic in its narrative and evocation. As for the b-sides, "Lies" shows that the Pet Shop Boys are better doing pop and showtunes than straightforward dance tracks. For proof, listen to "Sail Away," an updated Noel Coward showtune. This is what they excel at.

This single is worth the cost for the Attaboy mix alone. It takes the sadness of the original and transposes it into a deep house format and manages to convey the emotion while keeping it real on the dancefloor. The best way to have your heartbroken while your feet are moving! The Brother Brown mix is strong as well -- more of a deep house with a progressive twist -- but not quite to the same extent. The stuttering "drunk" can get a little annoying for a 10 minute mix. T-Total gives a more traditional dance mix; it sort of fades when compared to the other two. The Attaboy mix is the way to go.
