Although the accolades Mr. Lazonby receives for this track are rightfully deserved, the standout element of the tune should be given proper credit as well.
The swooping synth (that is, quite honestly, the real gem) comes from a very old Genesis song called "The Fountain of Salmacis" released on their third LP "Nursery Cryme" from 1971.
Pete Lazonby did an excellent job of making this his own, that's for sure ... but credit where credit is due.

Sacred Cycles is a legend in its own lifetime. Such a classic tune only needs a remix dustdown if there is something worth saying. These 2 mixes from the Texas based producers definitely have something to say. Prog hero Derek Howell opens up the 2006 remixes with his electro trance melodic mix. All the classic 'cycles' sounds but his signature sound that brings it right up to date. Pete Martin goes moody and deep with some traditional progressive trance... Slow, low and burbling.

I'd have to agree with the above ; the original was stylish but the German remixes including the Jens mix took it to a whole new level. I found mine with a ten inch bonus record jammed into the sleeve with the absolutely sensational Gary D mix on the b side, used by John Digweed on Renaissance 2. Deepens the bassline and gives the samples the full Superstition treatment. One I'll hang on to for some time to come and definitely worth tracking down.

Classic track. I have to agree with the above that the original mixes were good but Jens took this to a whole new level. My copy came with a separate ten inch wedged in the sleeve with the more common Jens mix on one side and an absolutely sensational deep mix on the b that I think John Digweed used on one of the Renaissance mixes. Well worth looking for if you can find it.

Sasha put this track on the audio map in my opinion when he dropped it on his essential mix from 95. Although he played the remix version, I bought this, mistakingly thinking it was the version he used but alas it wasn't. Although the intro is good and synths are a delight to the ear, it is simply nowhere near the class of the Jens M remix with its heavenly riff, great b-line and superb breakdown. I eventually bought it ten years later on the triple album after tracing it!

This is definitely one of the best Trance-releases ever.
A great and very long build-up, but its just nice like that...
This mixture of nice floating trance waves and a pulsating rhythm, that you just have to move to, makes it a wonderful listening tune and also a floorfiller, that should be played at every electronic classic party.
This one is listed in my top 20 all-time classics.

For me it's really hard to list up my top 100 tracks - but I think this one should be in.
Still a goose-skin track!

I only listen to this nowadays for the intro and the synth washes, but it was one of my favourite tunes at one time. I think the remixes on Hooj (Medway/Quivver/Cass and Slide) are actually quite good. Medway does interesting things with the synth. It's a classic and that's the end of it!

The original Pete, an old favourite of Sasha's. The track features an opening sample of Ghandi giving a speech, I'm afraid I don't know where/when, but the impression given would be that he is speaking to world leaders - "You must stop this whole nonsense."

Has a VERY long build-up, but it's worth it.
