Pretty much what you'd expect from a CD titled "Winter", this disc is 60 minutes of frosty, beatless ambience. Probably the best of the "Seasons Greetings" releases on Fax, "Winter" is a slowly shifting mass of cold upper- and mid-register tones and gentle bass drone, without much real variation in theme or content. Sections of heightened activity fade in and out occasionally, or a few notes of a very simple, drawn-out melody plink through, but mostly this disc is a meditative, beautiful musical representation of arctic stillness.
