Reviews & Discussion

I must admit I was never a big fan of Border Community until I heard this track by Petter (Nordkvist) and it gave me a whole different outlook on what James Holden was doing as far as trance is concerned. Here is how I see it and how it sounds, and that is people get pigeon holed into one specific area, and because Tiesto used a Border Community track, I think that stuff is garbage or commercial, or whatever. "Some Polyphony" is taking no prisoners on a large sound system. But it can do some effective mind control for the moment. If you have been a bit curious about electro house and what that stuff actually is when it is good? Start here. I love this track and it gave me a whole different outlook on quality amongst this now overrated genre. The breakdowns on this are pretty sick and twisted. I like it like that.

This is an incredible effort right here as suggested by its own title. "Some Polyphony" is a very warm and tight production built around a minimal techno track which has a winning combination of original melody combined with all the stuff many producers use when creating Electro-House tracks. The actual difference here is that Petter seems to have carved his own niche' in things which gives this particular track room to breathe. I don't like saying it sounds like efforts by Umek, Kiko or Agaoria, however if you find those guys works appealing, this will be right up your alley. It is amongst the best that the genre has to offer.

Petter Nordkvist has done it again for James Holden's Border Community label. After his melancholic Six Songs EP this is his second production for Border Community. The title song Some Polyphony has a great synthesizer riff that does not want to get out of your head, accompanied by a pounding bass drum and a nice loud hi-hat in between this record is magnificent in it's simplicity. but if I have to be honest my favourite track is Untight. Very Sharp and detailed production with a deep bassline, a very cracking sounding clap, this is a very warm club track that slowly builds to a climax.
