Pink Floyd ‎– Animals

Contrary to popular belief, thats a modified version of Psalm 23 read out during Sheep, not The Lords Prayer.

For those who don't actually know, the song was originally 2 tracks (as per the LP's and CD's. Due to timing restrictions on an 8 track, the two songs were spliced together with Snowy White's guitar solo JUST for the 8 track. I think that the album should be heard as it was meant to be by the artist(s). This version should be classed as an oddity only.

Snowy White's guitar solo on the full version of Pigs on the Wing is outstanding. It's a shame that, for the non-8-track versions, it was removed and that the song was split. Not only is this a great, underrated song, it's the only one on the album that doesn't require an enormous time and emotional commitment to enjoy. Furthermore, it's also the only one that carries any sort of positive message. This is the definitive version of the song.

I have a copy of Animals ive just purchased. it is Pink vinyl Lp Japan CBS Sony. I havent recieved it yet i wonder if anyone can confirm this release. Thanks, Chris

One of the albums photographers Peter Christopherson were soon to be member of the industrial band Throbbing Gristle, later member of Coil. He were working for Hipgnosis during the 70's.

This and The Final Cut are probably my favorite two Pink Floyd albums.

Grew up hearing this as an inheritance from the generations that decided to change the world, but later succumbed in the reality of their chances and their own ineptitude in the fight against their alienation.
If the delusion of post war dream, the decadent ways of capitalism and its frantic race towards mankind annihilation, the fucked up minds that settled a civilization for monkeys that doesnt discern good from bad, the religious set of sheeps prepared for the sacrifice since cradle and the general vista of a world that slowly fades into oblivion and forgetfulness could be put into words and music then this work could be the master work representing it.
Pink Floyd "Animals" trascends the limits of modern music and can only be compared and structured with masters of the musical arts such as Bach or Beethoven,Tchaikovsky or Mozart or any of the most well known musical geniouses that humanity has given. They are out of this world. This particular creation paints history and feelings, form and content, context and progression in full perfection and places art in the paragon of glory and perennial remenbrance of the brilliance that only few men can give us.

This album is one of Pink Floyds best. The monunment of a song Dogs put me in a trance of pure musical enjoyment. Pigs (Three Different Ones) shows of David Gilmour's true ability to make sound effects. The use of the voice box in this song is amazing giving the impression of a real pig. Finnaly, the song Sheep is one of the most eerie song's I have ever heard in my life. The pseudo-lords prayer gave me the shivers as the demented lyrics described the life of people that blindly follow and form of leadership and describe there potential demise.
