Reviews
- I purchased this Immersion set for one reason only: the Bluray disc and not for the two CDs or the two DVDs also contained in the box.
And yet, the Bluray was Hugely Disappointing because it did not contain the Hi Def (Dolby Atmos True-HD and/or dts-HD Master Audio) audio options that everyone into Surround Sound know are a traditional inclusion with a Bluray release....in fact the beauty of a true bluray disc is that it offers these high definition audio streams!
At first I could not understand why such streams were not contained in the bluray disc, specially when an Immersion project is defined as one that sets aside all other previous media recordings and offers only the latest and best that today's technology allows.
My confusion was answered when the recent Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon - Dolby Atmos came into the market.
This version contained a bluray alone but with all the offerings of audio options available in Dolby Atmos True-HD and dts-HD Master Audio.
(And which, by the way, I purchased again.)
Thereby I came to the realization it was all about 'The Pink Floyd Marketing Strategy And The Poor Suckers' like myself. (Ha, ha, charade you are!)
They ripped us of by claiming a bluray was included in this Immersion Box but somehow failed to inform us that it would not meet the standards of a TRUE bluray disc, because they knew very well that they will release a bluray stand alone in the future as they did with their similar marketing plans of Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon - Dolby Atmos.
If you care to read below you will note that one Reviewer states: Its a shame they do not offer these as stand alone Blu-rays.
Hang in there buddy: you will have a chance to spend your money again when the 'Wish You Were Here' stand alone Bluray appears again in the market, just the same as they did with Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon - Dolby Atmos because now I understand that the future holds all the marketing plans for rehashing Pink Floyd music to all the generations to come.... - Wish you were here is my favorite Pink Floyd album and having this box is awesome. It's offering so much variety of music formats and versions of the album. Highly recommended.
- Edited 8 months agoThis is a great record in a box set that is really only for die hard Pink Floyd fans. If money is no option then you will be pleased with this. The 5.1 and quad mixes are very well done and take you to places you didn't know were possible because you thought you had already been there. 5.1 adds a lot of depth to music if mixed right, this is not like Ri-Res that sounds no different that a CD. Its a shame they do not offer these as stand alone Blu-rays.
