referencing Pink World (2×LP, Album, Pink Marble) MCA2-8019
I've always regarded PINK WORLD as something of a guilty pleasure, so I'm pleased to see it rated so highly here on Discogs. One of the few concept albums that actually works. Double LP set on pink vinyl, and this pressing sounds perfectly fine, with solid low end and a wide, vast soundstage. My copy is a gold stamped promo with the original inserts, and the vinyl plays nice and clean with just a trace of occasional faint surface noise.referencing Pink World (2×LP, Album, Pink Marble) MCA2-8019
My copy is exactly like this one but is a promo copy- Phenomenal album. Easily some of Tony Carey's best work ever is on this album and together with Planet P, I would say this is some of my favourite records from the prog-rock genre, especially given the heavy use of synthesizers to create a sort of futuristic sci-fi mood. At times the record echoes Pink Floyd's The Wall, but manages to retain an identity of its own thankfully.
My favourite tracks are What I See, which has a wonderful strong powerful beat to it and a driving bassline that goes throughout the song, and A Boy Who Can't Talk which starts out sounding similar to a Roger Waters song but ends up becoming its own thing when the beat kicks in and it turns into a power ballad of sorts.
Definitely an amazing album worth checking out if you're into prog-rock. - Edited 7 years agoI swear this version was ripped from (a very clean) vinyl source. I seem to recall, though listening to it now I can't hear it, that as the last song trails off you can hear the run-out groove and, I think, the stylus lifting from the groove.
Could be wrong but this was the first CD release of this album available anywhere. Can't recall the year I purchased this but I ordered it direct from Russia and I am pretty sure it was not commercially available anywhere else at the time (nor was their eponymous first album). - The sound quality of this release isn't that great. There is dead space interruptions between songs that blend together from the original MCA release of the album.
- Edited 13 years agoI have had this album since it came out. This is an awesome release. I guess the best way that I could describe it would be that it is a rock opera. All songs written by Tony Carey. In fact if my memory serves me correctly, he produced, directed and performed almost all instruments and almost all the vocals.
It is about a boy named Artimus. He drank some water from a pool and suddenly had powers. He was able to save some people from a holocost by putting up a barrier. This worked well for a while and then he suddenly left them there to fend for themselves.
I happen to have a copy of one of the singles released from the lp that is a pink vinyl promotional copy of Pink World that I will be putting up here soon.
