Praveen – Backed By Spirits

Praveen, one half of Hotflush's Sepalcure, first came on the scene with BACKED BY SPIRITS for Neo Ouija, and the iciness and plaintive harp of "A Sad Sad Day" promise a moody future. "Float" is slightly warmer, though a chill persists, and the fuller sonic fields of "Haze" conjure up a drive along a misty cliff. Some ghostly breaks skitter through "Cecilia's Fruit," while a spare, stuttering takes over "Real Memories." "Please Begin" brings in a lovely refraction before "Piano in a Hurricane" ends the album on a floating, dreamy note. The spirits are strong with this one.

More experimental than IDM, but arranged smartly as if a small electric symphony were playing a back alley in Amsterdam. Support the artist on this one and you will reap the benefits of far superior sound quality and better experience of the music; you might never know the true meaning of this music if you don't. A great and thoughtful album.
