Great refreshing EP in a own little style. Everytime i pick this up after a while i'm impressed.
The music is very nicely changing, the melodies are touching, the basses are subtle and tight. The many use of simmering glitch works sometimes subliminal like in the ending of Grasping the Equinox, but is mostly good and defining for the eccentric character of this EP.

Boy. How do you describe and comment on such a glitchy, melodic, broken, and unoriginal album? I suppose you can't, because 99.9% of IDM sounds exactly the same. However, despite it not being innovative and new, this EP is indeed nice. Nothing I'd keep on the top of the CD pile, but nice enough to toss in once and a while.
What does it sound like? Everything else in this big bucket of IDM. However, this sounds like it was done on the spot, live, without pre planning. Why? Everything is... all over the place. A really mixed up EP. Good or bad? Good, I'd say. This sounds like Prhizzm got shit faced and stoned one night and just began to mess around on some hardware and keyboards, and next thing you know, everything came out allright. It leaves for a boring listen after the 10th time or so, but it's enjoyable while still fresh.
Others say this sounds like Warp or Boards of Canada stuff. I disgree. That stuff sounds like car commercial music. Boring crap that gets dull the first time you hear it because it's unoriginal and been done before. Sure, this isn't new either, but it's quite abstract, yet has structure, which in turn leads for an interesting listen.
Nothing worth spending money on (a warning, or such). However, if you can get it, listen to it. It's one of those love it or hate it albums.

Thank GOD, a gust of fresh air into the stale room that is IDM (no... I'm not making fun of you guys in the slsk idm room... or am I?) Prhizzm brings you some damn great music, I don't really know how I would classify this... IDM I guess, but I don't like that term at all, oh well... this is gorgeous stuff.
For a debut EP, this blew me away, especially the fact that it was released on Benbecula, Toronto producer Prhizzm seems like he already knows exactly what he was put here to do... make amazing tunes. I can't pick standouts, from the opening electro/guitar song "Small Comfort", to the ever-changing, but always satisfying "Minutiae", the bubbly, happy "Grasping The Equinox" and on to the end, this music brings an interesting mood...
Here's where I must warn you, many people compare this music to Boards of Canada, which is half misleading, half accutate... In my opinion, Prhizzm is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT producer than Boards of Canada, he uses different sounds, methods, aesthetics, etc... so he doesn't SOUND LIKE Boards of Canada... or anyone else for that matter. Then again, the music of Prhizzm brings across feelings similar to those brought by listening to Boards of Canada... so the comparison is half justified.
Don't get me wrong though, this is a very unique work that deserves to be listened to, many times, by ALL OF YOU... and put Prhizzm on your watch lists because he is going to be BIG.
