Prodigy, The - Experience

I bought this cd back when it was first released from central station records in the early nineties without really having any knowledge about the artists or the music at all.

What I certainly did know was that I absolutely loved that sound. I heard "everybody in the place" on the radio and bought the single. Id never heard anything like it - was absolutely amazed at the energy and beats.

That was about 15 years ago.

I now own every single and every CD they ever released, however this one holds a special place in my heart as it was really the beginning of what was to become a real love for an amazing and groundbreaking dance music group.

Im looking forward to seeing them perform again at the Big Day Out here in Australia.

In its coherence an for all time absolutely outstanding album of Breakbeat + Jungle Core released in the early 90ies by the unique PRODIGY. Whole and complete just so much about dancing, raving & breakz like there is no comparison. Alec Empire sort of tried it but is too political ... But "Experience" goes beyond, tracks merge into each other, fit right in there ... This is ulitmate, ok: imagine yourself on E to this ... In the year 2007 still so fresh, and I will listen to this in 2057 and there won't be any loss of genius ... Just one other guy from the UK who is so unique: Ed Rush ... But then that surely is a different issue. THX to THE PRODIGY !!!

This amazing album was truly the kick start for me and many others i"m sure,although i first heard it in the summer of 1995.
The remarkable thing about the whole album in general,is that,with all its sampels of breaks,piano breakdowns,pitched up girl voices and of course the ragga vocals,there is not an "Amen" break sample to be heard in any track.
Which suprises me a bit as im a true "Amen" addict.

All in all this album is the best CD , ever cross this earth it is the root off all styles,concerning the oldskool/jungle rave era,and even at that time,(1992) the trem "jungle" music was not known yet.
Today after 12 years of listening to this album,it still gives me goosbumps...each and every time i play it!
Actually i played it, just an hour ago, and as it is titled "The Experience",it truly is an experience even if one would play it 50 years later!

Every track on Experience is an absolute killer. I remember driving around with some friends with this on the car stereo and not even wanting to skip to the next tune - for the whole album, even with the slow burner Weather Experience (fine acid).

The best track IMHO is Everybody is in The Place - it is just a pure unadulterated rave track - which has got to be exactly what Liam Howlett was trying to do with the entire album. Timeless quality.

To bad The Prodigy thried muttering on after 'Music For The Jilted Generation'. Although there are some brilliant tracks on 'The Fat Of The Land', it cannot beat their two first albums, of which 'Experience' is very dear to me.

I got this album from the library years after it was released (probably somewhere in 1994) and I almost want to keep it. This was my first electronic album that I really loved. The cassette was in my walkman always for almost a year.

The reason why this album is so good is that all the songs are very original and were never equalled. On top of that, the tracks on this album in my opinion express the joy Liam Howlett had while making them. The melodies are fantasitic, as are the breakbeats and drums in all the songs. After hearing them 20 times you can still discover more tings and basslines interwoven with other layers.

This album definetely was my first experience in the electronic music world that I entered and haven't left so far!

For fans of "The Weather Experience" I would reccomend "Dope On Plastic" by Uptown, the Hiphop track from which the break was lifted wholesale. Credit for extracting that small fragment of drum greatness goes to Dante "The Scrub" Ross and the great Chris Moore.

Good album but it could have been great. Why oh why did Liam Howlett put inferior versions of 'Your Love' and 'Everybody In The Place'? Easily the best version of 'Your Love' is the Original Mix and the best version of 'Everybody In The Place' is the Fairground Remix. If those two had been included this would have been a stellar collection.

This CD is holy material, you can praise yourself very lucky if you own a copy of this.
This is one of the few albums that got people intersted in the House scene.

Prodigy's ultimate mark on the UK rave industry was felt with this release. Pumping breakbeat's & synth riffs make this an unparallel breakthrough for music production. Its hard to compare this album with any other as it carry's such a unique blend of talent & precision accuracy to label it as pure rave in genre would'nt do it full justice, you have to hear it for yourself...

Every track is brilliant. Liam's genius really shines through. He has a real ear for melody. I can't think of any other hardcore act that sounded anything like the Prodigy.
