Proem seems to be pretty respected and his latest album easily proves that there is a solid reason for that. Richard Bailey, though inspired by obvious IDM icons (don't force me to name them, you all know "The Big Three"), managed to create his very own vision of the genre. While the beat is shattered in a typical IDM manner, simply wonderful melodies are the most important element of Proem's music. The way he tells us a musical story is fascinating and highly suggestive. It's really hard to put it in words, let me just say that "A Permanent Solution" is infinitely beautiful. Definitely the best record of 2007 so far. Let alone this album is beyond such categories. Don't you ever miss it.
